Have any of you had to apply for this?? Trust me NOT something i wanted to have to do, but NO choice as i have not been able to hold a job of any kind due to the pain and and constant infections, surgerys and hospital stays.... I have waited 3 years for a hearing and finally have a date set for june 16,08 Im really nervous and worried as i have been way ILL all month and hoping i will feel healthy enough to make it to the hearing ok..I got a letter today stating that the administrative law judge will have a vocational expert there not sure why but whatever i only have about 1,500 papers of documentation on all my illnesses and cant understand the way the system works... Its not that i dont wanna have a job and a real and normal life just not able to right now.. I wish i felt GREAT and could function normally and make alot of money and be able to have nice things and be able to buy a nice house and just live life , but making the best of it and was just wondering if any of you are in the same boat??? I am so hoping that this "tolvaptan" works and will be out on the market soon then maybe all of us PKD people that are suffering with PAIN and constant infections might have some hope and be able to lead a more normal and productive life!!!!

" My dad got his social security when his creatine clearance was 5.0 . What u have to do is have all papers on your pkd including your hospital stays and and treatments you haved. Also you should look up the disablity on social securitys website and see if u qualify once your creatine cleanrance is high you automatically get it like my dad. He is on dialysis which i don't know if u are but if u are then u have a better shot of getting it. Trust me my dad was upset about social security cause he loves to work but when your in so much pain and sick all the time the best thing u can do is stay home and get rest. "

" Sorry, celine. I got a transplant nine years ago but, before that happened, my doctor told me that PKD didn't qualify me for disability.

I guess the rules have changed or my doctor told me wrong. "
