I'm going to ya'll folks MOM!! At first inkling that you feels that you are going to have bladder or kidney infection, start taking care of yourself !!!
My daughter just gotten out of the hospital for severe UTI and she also have PKD. Why she is so stubborn about taking care of herself before she end up in the hospital?
To avoid UTI, keep your hygiene CLEAN! Even use non-allergenic wipes and keep some travel pak in your car or purse when using other folks or business restrooms.
Gals even guys, After having whoopie!!, please Clean, urinate and clean afterward. My son in law is 23, he have prostate infection at his age!! yike. the dr told him that he is too young to have prosate problems. He told him the exact same things I told my daughter. Keep Clean!
Avoid food dye. Even those yummy raspberry tart at the bakery have red dye in them. Red and blue dye are murders on kidneys and causes its to become inflame.
Buy any new udies? or bathing suit. Wash it first. Sometimes there are leftover chemical or dye residues.
As soon as you first start feeling like on coming uti or kidney infection, drink cranberry juice. Also alot of fluid after ward. If you dont like the taste you can diluted with apple or orange juice. It is horribly painful trying to urinate little droplets if you do not drink fluid.
If that does not resolve it, afer 24 or 48 hrs, or you see any sign of blood, go to your dr right away. Once you taken your med ,and within 24-48 hrs you will start feeling better. If not call your dr back. It could be stone or other things that may be causing the problems.
My daughter waited 4 days not doing anything, it gotten worse, she went to Urgent care but waited 2 days later to get her prescriptions filled. She have money for it or could ask us to get it for her. Then later, she was running a fever and it was messin up her heart causing palpatations. It scares the heck out of her. She ended up in ER. After all the nasty ole tests she endured, it came back severe ITC. Now she is at home exhausted and weak. And a huge bill coming soon.
She told me over and over how sorry that she should've listen to me. now she knows what it feels like when she ignored my suggestions. She felt bad for being lazy and there was no excuses for letting it go that far.
Thirty years ago, Drs never tells me what to do to prevent it from happening again. I learned as each time it happened. I hadn't have ITC in ages.
Well folks, like my late gramma used to say. Ya'all play around, play around and ya ain't going to be around. Bless her soul she lived to be 94 years old.
I just don't like see any folks hurtin like we do when we get ITC or painful PKD.
Any more suggestions that anyone of ya'all feel it more helpful. Please let us know.
Thanks ya'all, luv ya'all bunches =)

" You are right about hygiene and drinking fluids. Also, one doctor told me to urinate
as soon as I felt the need to. That made a lot of sense and it helped me, because I had one UTI after another for years. I haven't had one in about 18 years.

Warm regards,

Stephanie F "
