Big jump in creatinine

I was diagnosed with PKD 20 years ago and am now 60. Over the last 10 years, my creatinine level creeped up to 4 about 3 months ago. Now my latest blood test shows that my creatinie level has jumped to 4.9, the highest it has ever been, plus it increased almost 25% in 3 months.

I'm wondering, could this be an anomaly? Did the lab screw up? If it jumped this much in 3 months, should I be getting ready for dialysis soon?

I'd just like to hear your thoughts on this.

thanks,
carl

" I AM ABSOLUTELY NOT A DOCTOR, but i do remember having a discussion with a med student (working at the kidney clinic) and he said that your creatine number can change if you're dehydrated. therefore, he said you could check the number 10times a day and get 10 different results. mine went up & down during & after childbirth.
