Advice:
Creatinine levels

Hi guys, I have no history of kidney problems, I have RA and other stuff-but I'm hoping someone here can help me.

Last week I got terrible lower back pain and went to the Dr. he checked my urine and said it was loaded with WBC and I had a UTI that moved to my kidneys so he gave me antibiotics.

A couple days before that I had to get a pre-employment drug test, the results were sent to my home (all drugs were neg. of course!) but it showed my Creatinine level as being 108.5, I understand normal is between 0.5-1.2, so this is insanely high!!

Sooooo....I guess what I'm asking is do you all know if this is caused by a kidney infection or is it so high it could be something else? Doctor won't really say-you know how they are~

Any help would be appreciated!! xoxo Jeannette

" Hi ,my understanding is that an infection in the kidneys can cause the Creatinine to increase .I think it would be wise to insist on another test being done some time after treatment to cheak all is ok ,because it can allso be a sign of kindey funtion failing .But at this time I would not worry too much ,just get it cheacked again later..If your kidneys were failing you would be feeling very unwell ,but then an infection can do that too... " Normal range of Creatinine is .5 to 1.5. I'd say the lab screwed up your test, because 108.5 is pretty much indicative of death. I'm in stage 3-4 end stage renal disease and my creatinine is only 4.9 "
