" Hi marie

I have emetophobia (fear of vomiting) but when I was a child i used to fear fainting as well, actually it used to alternate from one to the other, one day I feared fainting & the next vomiting!!.
when I was about 10 11 years old I was terrified of fanting.
Now at 42 vomiting is my main fear.
I still get light headed but I donr fear it any longer!!. sorry I dont have any advice as to how to get over it! I think we just learn to live with phobias rather than get over them!. My fear now is vomiting & I am trying to find a way to live with it.
perhaps we could help each other out!!
I'm here if u want to chat
hugs xxxx Judith "

" Yes, I get the feelings of fainting but lately I've been thinking positive because I no longer want to live my life in fear. Today, when I get light headed I just keep on going because I know that I am not going to past out because I've been going through this for years and I haven't feel out yet. However, I do get dizzy all the time, infact last week was bad for me. Lately, I've been walking and doing excercise. "

" My mum has it. She faints about 3x year from dehydration from bp meds and not drinking enough water...and now hardly leaves her chair. I know that it is traumatizing especially at her age - 92...however, she can't sit there worrying about dying when she is hardly living. This is where I got my catastrophic thinking about health. I don't want it! The way to get over phobias - desensitization, positive self talk, support, sometimes meds and faith. "

" Oh yeah. I get this too. This is something I've been struggling with a lot lately. In fact, I've been fighting with it all day today. I just take Xanax and try to get on with my day. Not good advice, as it doesn't fix the problem, just masks it enough (sometimes) to make it to a safe place. "

" hi, I've had the fear of fainting many years ago. It's from hyperventilating caused by anxiety. try deep breathing and you can even try using a paper bag and take deep breaths. i no longer fear fainting because it has never happened. All that worry for nothing. Exercise is great too. Good Luck. "
