" im just the same, im at university and i have huge problems getting on with student life because of my phobia. ive already dropped out once because of it. for the last year or so, where iv really been working on it, i find that doing little things like going shopping, just trekking around town helps u get used to the idea. and when u r around people, try 'bigging urself up' so u dont feel as intimidated. hope this helps, good luck! :) "

" I've been having that trouble for so long, on top of many other fears. About 5 years ago I only left the house once or twice a week if that.

Advice? Hmm...well it's still going on sometimes but getting better I believe because I made myself go out for small things, small reachable goals. i.e. 7-11 for an errand, post office, take a short walk, etc. A little at a time each day, even though it seems small, eventually you will get there because you will be always moving forward.

allbest to you "

" try to do what you can when you're in a strong place. if you can't don't get too down on yourself. Try email with your son/phone calls. I explained to my son (13) and daughter (11). I have similar but not all the time. Actually wait in my car until stores are about to close then go in. Bummer. "

" I'm scared of people too. I always felt like I was the only one with this problem and I still feel that way even though I know it's not true. I wish I could offer you good advice but at least it's helpful to talk to people with similar problems and find what has helped them. "

" I too am afaid of social events. I too go out by myself or stay at home. I get invitied to go sometimes with people I have met but this problem does keep me from knowing people and doing things outside the home unless its going to the store. Or getting drunk to losen up to talk to people. "

" practice makes perfect - force yourself to face your fears and you will see that there isnt anything to be afraid of. dont let it hold you back from things you want to do. "
