Hi all,
I am in a situation that is some what sad.I have been feeding these feral cats and kittens. Infact I had brought home 5 kittens that were out in the rain and didnt look so good at the time. That was 4 wks ago.Needless to say they are doing great and all over the place here at home. But my problem is that since I have been feeding the cats at my job, I have come accross a few that have been sick or hurt.
I have this one who I have named "Cat" lol. It has taken me almost a yr for him to let me touch him. And now he waits for me to get to work .I get to rub his head and under his chin and all that stuff. He had a real bad infection in one of his eyes. I had some extra antibotics from one of my own cats and started to give it to him and his eye got better.
Today I was feeding the cats at work and in the woods I heard this sad Meow.It almost didnt sound like a cat. I walked into the woods and saw this scary looking cat. He just cried and cried. I sat on the ground and talked to him. All this took about an hr. He came closer and closer. I poured the cat food on the ground and he started to eat. I notice that he had a collar on but it wasnt around his neck. It was under one of his arm pits and around his shoulder.I kept on talking in a soft voice and was trying to take off the collar. He would growl a bit. I did get it off. But it apparently had been this way for such a long time. It was stuck on him under his arm pit.The buckle was rusted. I felt under his leg and it is a very bad wound. I ran to my truck and got another pill I had left and gave it to him. It was so sad. But I heard that there are places on the internet that will sell you meds for your pets.I havent yet talked to my vet but I really do think that she will want to see the animal first. And I dont have those kind of funds. I already have 6 dogs and 6 cats including the 3 kittens I took home. I found homes for 2 of them.
I just dont know what ealse to do for these animals. Does anyone have any ideals? Please!
Thank you.....

" Check Petfinders.com for a no-kill shelter in your area, and call them about the animals. Let them know that you just need help in paying for veterinary care, and that you are willing help with the actual care; you just need some help with paying a vet; they should be able to put you in touch with a vet who will either do it at a reduced rate, or maybe they even have an emergency fund to help with situations like yours. If the cats are going to stay, you should also ask about getting them spayed or neutered; it will help with the overpopulation, and will also keep down injuries, as they will fight less. "

" Thank you so much .I called this one group in my area and all they did was send me info on Feral cats. They told me not to call the local Humane Society , cuz they will trap and put down these cats.Yes , some groups will come out and help trap and fix them all and shots , then bring them back. I will try petfinders. God Bless and thank you. Keep your fingers cross for them! "

" YOu also might try the ASPCA web site; they run trap/neuter/release programs, and they might know of someone who can help you. Good luck! "

" First I want to thank you all for helping me out.
I did some checking along with my dear mom. And we found this program called Allie Cats.com
They are a group of persons who teach people like me about stray and feral cats. I got a packet in the mail. They tell you who to call and not to call for help. The animal control peole will pick them up but they will also be killed by them. Feral cats are not able to be adopted. Any ways they gave me a list of people in my area to help with trapping ang then they will pick the cats up , give them their nessary shots and spay and neuter them. Then the best part they will bring them back. They call it TNR.(trap-neuter-return). Its a beautiful program. They are all over the USA.
Please check them out.
Keep your fingers cross for them and me. By the way the scary cat that had thet bad sore under her front leg. Well shes doing better. Not crying too much anymore. I cleaned it as well as she would let me.Shes eatting real good too. Ok , thank you all and God bless you!

" You are a wonderful person. That is why I love this site. A good site to look at is www.spotsociety.org
Some organizations will trap the cats spay and or neuter them and then let them go in the same spot. Some vets will help animals pro bono. "
