My dog died on Friday evening, lying in his favorite spot beside me in our garden overlooking a river. He was wrapped in a warm blanket and just left....he was an English springer and I adored him...he was 14 years and
I rescued him when he was over a year old....we adored each other and he was always beside me in my home....I am so sad....my husband told me to get over it...one day of grieving is enough....but I can't stop crying...I just love him and miss his presence....he was such a part of me....

" Oh hunny I am so very sorry for your loss. My dog died 3 weeks ago yesterday and I cried for 2 hours today and cry over her loss every day still. Each morning when I used to say "good morning love" and many nights before I go to bed when I roll over and she's not there spooning me anymore. There is no time limit on grief. It is something you have to feel and let yourself feel or you will never get over it. I'm hear to listen if you need... "

" Take as long as you want. My cat died on Wednesday, she had to be put down by the vet. She has been my best friend for 20 years, It has absolutely killed me, but I am taking my time to come to terms with it.

It's lovely that he got to drift off in his favourite spot without any pain, it really is xxxx "

" I'm so sorry for your pain...I knew my dog wasn't right and I left him to go to work....but it was a routine for the past many years we were both accustomed to....if I had of known what was going to happen...of course, I would have stayed with him, but, I didn't know...and we never expect the worst...be kind to yourself.... " so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. My dog had to be put to sleep on 15.10.07 she was a cocker spaniel and like your dog was 14 years old. I still grieve and cry for her so one day is certainly not enough. I suppose the only difference now is that i keep it to myself. It hurts to much doesnt it? Mine also stayed by my side constantly and i so miss that. I am thinking of you and hope that both our dogs are bouncing about in doggy heaven like spaniels do!
Take care x "

" Nope, one day isn't enough. I had to make the painful decision to put my beloved Siamese kitty daughter, Sonny to sleep 03-10-08, and she was almost 17. I miss her so much. Miss sharing doritos with her and cheese!!!
Miss sooooo many things about my girl!
She was a major part of me as well. Take all the time you need, hon! "

" I don't think we realize what a part of our routine they become until they're not there anymore. Everyone else is right, in that nobody can tell you when/how long its right to grieve! Take your time and do what you have to do. Sending good thoughts your way. "
