This is a great conference and I would encourage anyone to attend if you can.
http://www.parkinson.org/NETCOMMUN... It will be Aug 7-9 in Atlanta GA. Early registration ends June 30 (sorry I didn't post this earlier), but the registration includes several meals provided. REgistration does not include transportation or hotel reservation costs. Please let me know if you might be able to come and want to share a room with someone to lower costs and I will try and get word out about that. If you are not able to attend, they usually have a webcast available later. But another thing you might like to do if you can't attend is participate in the "Faces of Parkinson's project" (see link to it on link above) I think they deadline for this is july 15. I plan on attending. This will be a first for me. I've never been to anything like this, not even a support group. On the website www.parkinson.org, they have all the info.I was blessed to fill out and e-mail their scholarshop application to receive reimbursement for the hotel room amd transportation. Registration ends July 15, and it will be $99 instead of the $79 for early registration, which ended June 30. My budget is so tight right now, I am trying to come up with the registration fee. I have made hotel reservations. I am looking forward to attending. elainem

Judy, I'm new to this site. I've been diagnosed for less than a year but recognize signs/symptoms indicating it's been creeping up for the past 6-8 years. I've wondered if I'm too old for the "young onset" group. Is there a suggested age range? I'm 58 and very active at my teaching job. I'd like to drive to Atlanta for the conference next month. Can you believe--I don't know one person with PD! I'm looking forward to meeting and networking with PD people.

Cindy, I have never met anyone with PD either. I am 57 (and one half!!). I do not consider myself old. I was hoping that there will be others at the conference my age. I hope you will be there and others our age.

I can hardly wait till the conference (I stayed up most last night watching the video streams from last year's meeting)! I'll be the one with a lucite cane and a "Cindy" name tag. Let's get acquainted!

To those of you who posted, I apologize for just now getting back to you and thanks Mike for answering some of their questions. If either of you have questions you may send me a private message here in DS if you don't want to put out here in the forum.
It doesn't matter how old you are, if you want information and to meet other people with parkinson's and this years' location is good for you then I would encourage you to go! I will look forward to meeting you there and getting to know you better here as well. judy
