Parkinson's Disease Support Group

I lived in a very small town where my husband grew up, the kind where no one leaves and they marry the girl next door. I wasn't accepted but I tried, I volunteered at the kids school etc.. at my sons 2nd grade holiday party I started to tremor bad, I really tried to hold it together but spilled the juice and the teacher very loudly shouted attention everyone the janotor would be coming because there was a big mess to clean up that there was no more juice but even grown ups make messes, I was humiliated, my poor son was embarassed by me.
From that day on rumors of me being a drugy started, my kids were teased about there Mom and I just sent the snacks.

My mom refers to my Dad as "drunk" when he has a real bad day. Lots of tremors and his speech gets a bit incoherent. I know she doesn't mean it to hurt him, but I think that it makes him feel bad. Even though they live in the same house and she sees what he goes through it is still hard for her to admit that he is sick...He can't do what he used to anymore. But she expects him to be able to get up and do things when somedays all he does is lay in bed. I think it is hard for them both.

I had no idea this kind of thing went on. That is so cruel. I tell people that I have pd pretty quickly because my tremors are so noticeable. It just gets any embarrassment or discomfort on the table immediately. I am not doing it for sympathy. It's just a fact of my life. It puts me in control of my social interactions right away. At least that's what I think :)
