Focalin XR

My 6yo son takes 10 MG of focalin XR. He seems to be okay during the day as long as he eats a good breakfast, but I've noticed that every night when his meds should be wearing off he says, "Mommy my tummy feels weird". Has anyone else had this experience? Also his Ped Doc put him on 5 MG until he got in to see his Psych Doc. The first day seemed awesome, but after that it did not seem like it did anything. He just started his first of 10 MG yesterday and he seemed to do great again, but today he has been winy, moody, and extremely emotional. Before he would scream and yell; now he just cries and seems very easily saddened and upset. I just don't know what to think anymore. If anyone could give me a little in sight, I would be really grateful.

" If things don't pick up within the first 2 weeks, talk to doctor about changing the meds.
Read all you can on the side effects of Focalin. My 10yr old is on Vyvance, and had the same problems until she got past her 2nd week. Keep a close eye on him and make sure and let doc know everything at each appointment. "

" My son is also six. He started focalin xr over the weekend and we discontinued use immediately. His mouth was running non-stop. He seemed to have a tight jaw & where things would bother him normally, he'd just burst into tears on this med. After we took him to see the psychiatrist yesterday he said it was the totally wrong med for him. Now he's on strattera. I'm praying this works out... I'll keep you posted. Good luck!! "
