I'm going through an illness right now and my best friend is a quad. I want to lean on him because he's always been there through thick and thin, but I don't know how much to lay on him because I know he goes through so much dealing with his own issues being a quad. Would you prefer your friend did or did not lean on you, why or why not? Would it give you a sense of purpose? Would you feel good about being there for someone? I just don't want to overburden my friend, but I really need someone right now. I feel so alone. I know how hard it was for him after his accident when people backed away from him and now people are doing the same from me except for him. I just don't know how much to lean on him. Thanks.

" In 30 yrs I have had so many friends & family come to me for help in many ways. I am more than happy to do all I can. My 2 sons have leaned on meall their lives. I think that has been a major factor in not feeling sorry for myself. We all need to feel needed even in a listening capacity. Think of him as your friend not a quad. "

" I guess I can't really paraphrase what I'm trying to say very well, I don't really think of him just as a quad, I do think of him very much as my friend, but with everything he deals with on a day to day basis I just don't want to overburden him. My illness is a biggie. You guys have been a big help! Thanks! :-) "

" Still he is your friend. If you can trust him, tell him. He probably knows something is wrong anyway.

It won't kill him. If he can't handle it, he will tell you. Trust yourself. "
