I just found this community and I hope I can talk with others who can relate.
My father has been a paraplegic for 23 years. he has some use of his upper body, arms, and neck. 23 years is a long time to be in a wheelchair, i know. But he is now starting to give up. he wont see a new doctor, get the treatments he needs to get rid of his pressure sores. take medicine for his anxiety, NOTHING. everytime I try to talk to him he shuts me out and all I can do is cry. is there anyone in here going through the same thing that can give me some advice?? How old is he? How is he mentally? The pressure rose can kill him. Really the only thing you can do is have him decreed unable to care for himself. That would be really hard on you.
Maybe you can tell him doc what is going on. They may have better ideas.

Maybe he wont go to his doctor because he is experiencing some of the same things my boyfriend is who is 27 and been in a chair for 21 years. They aren't doing much of anything and he feels they dont care. Try looking for a better doctor. Stand beside him and try to give him "pep" talks let him know that he is a fighter and he cannot give up.
