I'm on Xanax now, .5mg. I take three of them a day. I liked them at first, but its more like putting a bandaid on a huge wound. The only bad thing about Xanax is that you can feel it wear off, atleast I can. So it's like pulling the bandaid off and reapplying it. Plus, it's really addictive so I'd be careful with it.

I must say that different people react differently to medications. For me, the xanax helped some. I was able to get a handle on the anxiety and avoid some of the attacks. They symptoms were milder. Ativan made me more zombie-like, but I relaxed and slept well. I was much better the next day after taking the ativan. Thus the only one who can decide which is better for you, is you. Most sedatives can be habit forming. I usually take 1/4 to 1/2 tab as needed. I don't need much because I am hypersensitive to most medications.

My PCP prescribed me 0.25mgs twice daily of Xanax for ongoing panic attacks. It really helped at first, but they made me pretty sleepy and felt confused and couldn't spell or count medications at work (I'm a vet tech). But, I've been taking it for about three weeks now and they have made me less tired and they did help with the panic attacks while I'm driving.
I did have two panic attacks a few days ago, so my psychiatrist upped me to 0.5mgs twice daily. That made me SOOOOOOOOOOO sleepy. Now, I'm going to just take them as needed, like a 1/2 hour before driving or something stressful. And also keep them in my purse in case I have a panic attack at work, which I did last week. But, sorry, that was long. They do help.

I AGREE WITH NESSY,XANAX IS GOOD WHEN YOU FIRST TAKE IT AND IT IS VERY HABIT FORMING.THE KEY TO KEEP FROM FEELING IT WEAR OFF IS TO TAKE IT AS THE DOCTOR TELLS YOU.I KNOW HOW IT FEELS WHEN IT WEARS OFF.AS I DO NOT LIKE TO TAKE ANYTHING,XANAX IS THE ONE AND ONLY THING I TAKE FOR MY PANIC ATTACKS.I HAVE NOT HAD ONE IN A LONG WHILE,BUT PLEASE KEEP IN MIND ASK YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT ANY MEDINCE HE GIVES YOU,IF ITS HABIT FORMING,CAUSE WHEN YOU TAKE IT,YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE SOEMONE HELP YOU STOP TAKEING IT.I HAD TO HAVE SOEMTHING FOR MY PANIC ATTACKS,I WAS HAVING THEM TO OFTEN.JUST BE CAREFUL WITH IT.HOPES THIS HELPS YOU.
