Today I was hunting for a summer job, and it was really hard and I can't figure out why. I've been applying anywhere that will has now hiring signs in the window. I went out and applied at a bunch of places in the local mall, and had no problem. But today was a different story. I kept panicking about going in and applying. I drove past one place three times, sat in the parking lot for 10 minutes, went home, changed my clothes, and drove past it again, before finally getting myself to go in and ask for an application. The other place I applied I parked in front, left and came back later. I was completely freaking out and I don't know why. The good part is, I overcame it, pulled myself together and now I have a second interview at one of the places tomorrow morning. But the bad part is that my panic attacks have never kept me from actually doing something, I've always been able to push through it. I was driving around crying because I was so worked up. I don't know what to do. I've been thinking about seeing my doctor about maybe some sort of meds because it's been getting worse lately, but I really don't want to go on medication. Any advice?

" I think that everyone has their up and down days. With panic disorders, sometimes you feel on top of the world (like its AMAZING that you went in even though you were anxious- i envy you!) and then sometimes we feel ..randomly.. extra anxious (like today you had trouble doing something you normally don't have trouble doing).
I'm probably being the biggest hyprocite because I need to do it myself. But I would say that desensatizing (I don't even know if i spelled that right) is the best way to do it. Go back to the places that you felt anxious, do the things that you felt anxious doing and show yourself that you can get through it without running away or feeling anxious.
I think its amazing that you went in even though you were anxious, though. Go you :) "
