I joined this group a couple of months ago for my twin sister. We are 51 years old. My sister got pancreatitis after gallbaldder surgery. They found out she was born with a genetic defect of the pancreas at that time. I don't have it. But... my Grandmother died of this many, many years ago and ALL of my family on my Mother's side, Aunts, Uncles, cousins have had their gallbaldders out. So,they feel there is a genetic and family trait. Sorry to hear about your family. Stay strong and keep in touch.

I just joined, age 52. I went to the hospital two months ago thinking I might have a bleeding ulcer, as my urine was turning dark orange. They told me I had a common bile duct stricture that caused chronic pancreatitis. I had a roux-en-y hepaticojejusotemy. They don't know what caused the stricture. I was "perfectly healthy" before this. I do not drink, smoke, eat fatty or fast foods, I get plenty of exercise, etc.

Hello, Well I am 33 and developed Chronic alcoholic pancreatitis the summer of 2007. I have a great deal of sympathy for you and for others who have experienced this at a younger age.

I'm sorry you're going through this at such a young age. I am 48 1/2 (I learned to say my age that way from my kids), but I started having problems when I was 11. It is only recently that a doc told me that it was probably pancreatitis. About a year ago, I was finally diagnosed with chronic pancrestitis.
