" I have had 2 ERCP's and the doc cut both my pancreatic and liver sphincters due to high pressures. I was very ill after both precedures and have the same issues that I did before. I did not see any benefit personally, but it does depend on what the surgery is for. What do the docs want to do your surgery for? "

" i have had a peustow procedure. this is when they go in and fillet the pancreas, opening up the pancreatic duct, cleaning out as much calcification as possible and then sewing the pancreatic duct to the part of the large intestine to aid in digestive juice flow.
it helped me for 3 years, i was not in pain or sick or anything for 3 years. unfortunatly my pancreatitis is "back" and alot worse 3 years later "

" I have had 5. from gallbladder to wipple to 1/2 peustow. i don't think I have a pancreas anymore haha. anyway the gall bladder surgery was fine and it took about a week to feel somewhat normal - it depends on how bad your gallbladder was (infection) etc... putting in stints for duct blockage was not possible but they tried, The last surgery I had was a combo of wipple and peustow they took out the front and back end of my pancreas. and that was the worst surgery yet. I am still healing from that and it's been 6 mos, I also have had pseudocysts removal/drainage where they attach the cyst to stomach to drain. that hurt alot too. I hope I answered something for you. I have been thru many many procedures. so If I can answer anything else I would be happy I hope you are feeling okay today. "

" I had Pancreatic surgery 3 years ago ~ although it wasn't due to pancreatitis. I was injured playing college softball. The surgery was really painful... the surgeon removed 70%. Many docs have said that the pancreas is the most painful organ (when injured)!! I believe it. "

" Thanx for all your replies. I'll be going to see the surgeon this week and find out the name of the surgery but I think it has to do with cutting my bile duct and connecting it to my intestine so nothing will block or irratate the pancreas. Sound familiar??? "

" Cindy my brother in law has had surgury about 8 times. He is fine for awhile then it seems a duct gets blocked and he is right back in the hospital. This seems to happen about every 8 to nine months. He is fine within a couple days after. "
