Has anyone any experience of this. I have had it for about 15 years now - not worried terribly as it is easily treated - but now my eyesight does seem to be worsening and I am a little afraid I have not been taking it seriously enough :(

" I get this from time to time, but it always clears up with some steriod eye drops and another one that paralyses the eye. Your doctor should take this really seriously as you can have damaging effects from this if left untreated. "

" I wrote this ages ago!! just found it again. I was using the steroid eye drops for the 15 years, but the eyesight was getting worse. One day it really flared up and I was lucky enough to get a doctor who realised that it had started going to the back of the eye. This has meant that I have had to have steroid injections in the eye (not so bad as it sounds!!!) twice now - but these wear off after at time, and I have to have another one. My eyesight got really terrible before this was discovered - and the casualty docs I went to for ordinary iritis did not pick it up. Dreadful loops like looking through a net curtain and I couldnt make out someones face almost straight in front of me. Really really bad. However, the steroid injections have made a huge difference and I feel as if I am being well looked after now. Would love to know if anyone else has this trouble though as well? and how they are doing? Cathrynn X "

" I also have chronic Iritis and have had pain, redness and inflammation for about 6 years now. Ive tried sterriods, antiinflammatory drops and pills, vitamins, eating anti-inflammatory foods. I thought i was the only one in the world with Iritis until i found this site. It took 8 docs to make the proper diagnosis. I find the best relief i get is via walking. drinking lots of water also helps as does getting enough sleep. I have HLA-B27 but the docs do not have a direct link to the cause of the iritis. All the best to you. Hope you get better. "

" I used to get Iritis a couple of times a year. I was lucky to find out what was causing it. I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis. I found out iritis is one of the side effects.
At the first sign of any discomfort I start pred forte drops. "
