Hi everyone - I just joined this support group. I have already responded to a few posts.

I have had OCD for about 5 years and it is only getting worse. I have obsessive thoughts and nothing seems to make them go away. I think of doing something and I have to do it....if I dont, the thought nags at me until I do it. I try listening to music, doing something else to get my mind of things, but the obsessive thoughts always comes back :(

My dr just switched me from Zoloft to Prozac as I also have depression and anxiety - which as yall know, only feeds the OCD. I feel like nobody understands me and they tell me I can stop thinking these things. But I honestly cant! It's nice to know there is a group out there that feels the same way as I do.

" Hi and welcome.

You might not be able to completely stop your compulsions but little by little you can reduce them. It's all about baby steps--and recovery is not about perfection.

Best wishes "

" I have had OCD for about 6 years now, and I just started seeing a new Dr, he also changed me from Zoloft to Prozac, he said he had better results with the prozac, it's only been a couple of weeks, so I am sure hoping that improvement is coming soon. Take care and God Bless You!! "

" THat is actually my little nephew - but I do have two kids. My OCD is in full force right now because of my pending divorce.

I am just hoping that the Prozac works.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. "

" Hi, welcome to the OCD group. I'm pretty new here too, and it's been great so far. I know what you mean about people telling you that you can just stop. My husband used to say things like that too. Don't worry, we DO understand you and know you can't just stop. You've come to the right place. Are you doing CBT along with the meds? I would think that would work a lot better than the medication alone. I refuse to go on meds again, but I'm getting ready to start a CBT program. "
