I'd like to have more energy & often think that on my very healthy diet, I should be feeling brilliant... but Im not. Any ideas on foods that will give me a kick & give me more energy? Ive heard more raw food is good, but have also heard its best not to eat too much raw as the stomach can have trouble digesting...

raw food is not hard to digest. It causes a minimal amount of bloating because of fiber content. A lot of breads and processed foods are harder on the digestive system. If you are feeling down, tired during the day...try adding more protein to your diet. Protein is a huge factor in keeping energy up. Keep away from refined sugars (including processed breads, pastas, boxed items etc) that will cause a quick raise and drop in blood sugar.

I use a liquid mineral/vitamin supplement formulated especially for women. It helps greatly.

be careful with ginseng, as it is contraindicated for many women, so do your research first.
As far as raw foods goes, the only time I eat much in the way of raw food is during the summer... I tend to follow eastern dietary guidelines, and eating seasonally makes good sense to me. Cooking (even quick blanching) is the first stage of digestion, and of course chewing is the next. Lesser cooked food requires all that more chewing to get it to temperature and to begin the breakdown process. Those with a sluggish digestive system would not do well to overdo the raw foods. Also, since most fruit is eaten raw, less fruits during the colder season. Digestion of raw foods requires more heat, and in the winter, you don't want to rob your extremities to digest your food. Ever notice that after eating, you get a little chill? This is the affect of your bodies heat being internalized for digestion. So those with issues of poor circulation would also do well to be gentle on their system and precook as much as possible. Hopefully you are not drinking more than 2 or 3 ounces with your meals, which also can dilute the digestive juices, causing the body to have to work overtime... the longterm results of the ever popular "wash it down" method of eating is becoming so common in our society, and yet all that dr.s do is write a new script. sad, really, but its another topic. Do you use acidophilis? Have you ever thought about whether you may suffer from an overgrowth of candida? This can cause a person to be quite sluggish feeling, because candida robs nutrients from you, so no matter what you eat, you are robbed... and then tired.... its incidious... and its worth looking into. Hard to really say more, as I don't know what your "healthy" diet consists of... and yet it seems I've still had plenty to say! lol. no shortage of words here. don't dare call me shy!
