I am on xyrem and have to wake up in the middle of the night to take my second dose. Of course I have an obnoxious alarm clock(otherwise I won't hear it) and I know that it has to wake everyone else up in the house. I know they understand, but has anyone else found a better way to wake up to take that second xyrem dose?

My sleep Doc gave me a special clock that vibrates-I think it was actually from Xyrem/Jazz Pharm. you should ask your doc to get you one. You can put it in your pillowcase, but I just set mine on my night stand and I wake to ants burping anyway-so I totally hear it buzzing the table. very useful item.

I went as far as to augment the "Xyrem" pillowcase alarm clock with an alarm clock for deaf people that shakes the whole bed.
At this point, I am seeking a service dog to wake up to the alarm clock and then continually try to awaken me to take my second dose of Xyrem. I've seen the positive results of using this medication in my life, but for the life of me can't seem to wake up for that second dose. When I was on 2.25-2.75g of Xyrem, it wasn't as effective for me but I was able to stay up til the second dose and get it that way. The dosage that I'm on now is most effective for me, but waking me up to take the second dose is terribly difficult. Did any of you know that Xyrem also successfully treats Fibromyalgia? Mine has been gone since I've been getting restorative sleep. However, if I miss a dose, all bets are off.
