Provigil and weight loss

I have been trying to loose that "final" 15-20 pounds for like 3 years...working out, eating right, even tried some suppliments to boost the loss, with no results at all whatssoever. Almost 3 weeks ago I started on Provigil, while I am now getting off of the major adjustment ie; the horrible headaches and pain in my brain, the let down when it wears off at the end of the day...thats all getting slightly better, slowly but surley? ;) Anywho, I have lost 6 pounds in the past week or two without doing anything different at all. This is my long way of asking: Have any of you lost weight with Provigil or am I just getting lucky?

Thanks as always!

" my situation isnt just simply narcolespy, i have several complications, but i can tell u my weight drastically fluxuates with how well im able to take my provigil and welbutrine. during my "healthy" months, im much more active and energetic. without medicine ill go from 190ish to 240ish but i also have severe depression. the adderall also seemed to help with weight loss. theres only 1 big down side with my medicine and weight. i loose all my appetitie, i think its because of the provigil, but could be welbutrine idk. but when the medicine wears off at night im STARVING cause i coudlnt eat all day. late night meals are the worst for you. they cant give me stimulant apptite suppressants cause im already on alot of stimulants, so im reseaching THC(weed) to make me hungry earlier in the day so im not so hungry at night. either way congratulations on the weight loss ^^ keep it up "

" ARK- i am taking ritalin and it totally suppresses my app until it wears off and then i am like you.

something my doctor told me was that when your body is out of wack it will hold on to anything it takes in - kind of like a survior mode. but when you get your sleep deprivation under control it should be easier to get the wieght off. it makes sense to me. "

" Pk, thats what I am thinking. It seems like that is understandable. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same results.

Seems reasonable that your body would hold weight when not operating fully. "

" I was diagnosed w/ narcolepsy back around 97. I'm soon to be 30 and Ive tried Ritalin, Adderall and Provigil. Currently taking Provigil. I've noticed weight loss more w/ the Adderall and Ritalin not so much w/ the Provigil. Adderall and Ritalin are much more of an overall brain stimulant than Provigil is. congrats on the weight loss :) peace be w/ ya "

" As far as I understand Provigil stimulates just your brain while all the others work on your entire body. Not sure why it would help with weight loss other than what PK pointed out about the flow of your body and its ability to hold onto stuff when it is not working properly. I am also 30 but just DX with N so learning as I go still. Thanks for the support! :) "

" When I was first taking Provigil I actually gained 15 LBs the first 3 or 4 months. I was so sad! But then I was dieting and started losing like mad. I went down from a sz 18, now a year later, to a sz 6! I even switched my provigil to Ritalin about 3 months ago and still holding! I don't really diet now but just can't take as much food in. I don't usually need to snack like I did before meds. It is great to feel lighter, but was really weird buying all new clothes over and over. I have about 5 wardrobes in different sizes. I am afraid to get rid of all the sizes b/c you never know what happens around the corner. I know that sounds all great and everything, but it doesn't change how you FEEL about yourself. I always thought if ever I could just be skinny ALL my issues with self would go away-HA! That is a joke. It can even bring more issues!

" Tired - No I dont think he helps my workouts at all and it does nothing to my heart beat...which I think is good. My current theroy is that it is helping my brain to be in better balance and that my body has decided we may not be dieing and it may not need to hold this extra weight afterall.

I am starting to think I need more of it however as I am still having sleep attacks at times, though not as often. How much do you take? "
