Hotness

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you knew why we get so damn hot? this week has been pretty crappy for me for that, but it has been entirely my fault. i was feeling much better and managed to get entirely too drunk last week. i haven't been feeling good all week. i'm constantly on fire and not really sleeping because of it.

so, i need no lectures on booze! i'm off the hooch! but, i was wondering what causes the heat? my guy thought i just felt hot, but wasn't. i made him touch me one night and he was pretty surprised by how much heat my body was radiating. no website or book i have provides information on this, so i was hoping someone here could?

" I have no idea why..but I am with you on this. I used to be a cold natured person before MS..now I am hot all of the time and even have night sweats that I thought I wouldn't have to deal with until after I went through menapause. "

" I'm not sure how much faith you have in alternative therapies, but the way my acupuncturist explained it to me is that MS causes our bodies to overwork in many ways and that extra stored energy isn't released in the normal ways, which backs up in our systems causing the extreme heat to not be released. There is an acupuncture point at the base of the throat, which releases the heat and I've found it extremely beneficial. You can also release this point yourself with just gentle pressure instead of a needle. Just hold it until you feel the heat go. I hope this helps. "

" I thought it was just me. It is winter here at the moment and everyone is rugging up. It is cold when you go to bed and then I wake up kicking the blankets off in the middle of the night as I am sweating.

I even got my Dr to check to see if I was starting menopause at 39. (I'm not) but must admit I am dredding that if I feel like this now.
I hate it and find it is hard dressing for the day or work-having to do layers now.
I look pretty silly walking around with no sleeve shirts at work and everyone else has stockings jackets and jumpers on. "

" It has to do with the inflammatory response of our nerve endings. Inflammation causes heat. Try following an anti-inflammation diet. "

" I relate. People have commented that I really heat up a room, (unfortunately not in a stimulating way) Some people want to blame it on menopause but I knew it is from my MS. I also have had it longer than since DX. This site is great in helping me feel more ?normal? At least - not alone. Thanks "

" I thought my hotness, especially at night was from the Copaxone. Are you on that? I also had a hysterectomy a few years ago and was thrown into menopause but no hotness like now. I sleep in crappy cotton ugly old lady sleepwear (those cotton nightgowns from little house on the prairie). So hot sometimes I soak the bed and I can't breath. Still the feet are COLD. Go figure. Gotta love this disease.

Probably had nothing to do with your drinking. Drink up and enjoy life when you can - isn't that what life is all about? "

" I have developed this myself. I asked my GP about it, and no its not the change, I had a complete hysterectomy years ago. He said that it can happen in MS. He said our internal temp gage is broken,,lol
He said that perhaps where the lesions are has interupted it. Not much we can do. I now have one of those cooling wraps and place it on the base of my neck. It helps instantly. "
