Triggers for MS-Poll

Hi all, I find the polls very interesting when hearing others answers and experiences with this disease.

I thought I would ask if anyone can think of any illness, virus or experience they have had previous to their MS problems occuring which they think may have have triggered this disease.

I am asking as about 5 years ago (2003), (My very first symptom occurred Aug 2006) I had a virus that caused a rash all over my body which at first they thought was Chicken Pox-it wasn't.
I ended up being diagnosed with a viral rash called Pitisyrus Rosea (Not sure of the spelling). Apparantly it can last on the body for up to 3 months and then goes and mainly effects the trunk of the body-it is just caused from a virus.
Well it started to go after about 6 weeks and then I had a fever one night and the spots were back the next morning with avengeance.-
Back to the Doctor and this time it was Chicken Pox.

I have always said to everyone that I had not been the same since being whacked like that-I really do feel that this triggered MS for me.
Has anyone else had any experiences that stand out in their minds like that?

Look forward to hearing any responses.

" The main illnesses I had before MS were Chicken Pox and Scarlet Fever. I had my first symptoms pop up around the time of the death of my Father. He died when I was 15 at Christmas. I started having some numbness and started passing out when I got too hot. They told me I had a pinched nerve and low potassium. I was finally diagnosed when I was 19 almost on the anniversary of his death. You can't tell me stress doesn't trigger it!! "

" I can explain what happened to my sister: Dad sponsored 3 Brit. Migrnts after the War Z(WWII)& they arrived July '48. They'd been into Colombo, tho'' both adfults had had measles, When they arrived, the 4 yr. old was ruged up . He had bad case of measles. DAd was to easy-going - so he brought them home. Both Sister I got measles - a v.bad strain. I got over it, but Sister didn't - it went into her lympth glands: she was Hispitalized for 19 days.in ther groin there was a Z" growth" the size of a football! Her whole immune system ws under amazing stress - she ws diagnozed with MS at 312 -though she'd had symptoms for about 7 years before, they were mind. she went townhill very quickly, & died from a heart attack about 20 years ago. It was a very quick onset, & I often wonder whether the reaction ad anythn to do with the subsequant ilness. JaneD. "

" My 1st flare up happened after my 1st daughter was born and my second after my 2nd daughter was born, although this time around with both bouts of optic neuritis I did have an oral herpes outbreak prior to each attack. I've been told I have a viral infection component in addition to the MS also. "

" I have had mild symptoms for about 5 years (I'm 38), but first big flare up just happened at the beginning of this year. Severe numbness in my hands, arms, legs and trunk of body. Electric shocks when bending head down. Extreme fatigue. I had (have) an undetermined virus...it won't go away. As a child I had rhumatic (spelling?) fever, later mono, and a bout of hives all over my body that lasted for 2 years, had to take prednisone for 2 years to control the hives and allergy attacks. This is my first post. I have been dxed by family dr, and possibly a neuro dr (he's not quite sure). Brain lesions and spinal bands, but spinal tap is normal. "
