Triggers for MS-Poll

Hi all, I find the polls very interesting when hearing others answers and experiences with this disease.

I thought I would ask if anyone can think of any illness, virus or experience they have had previous to their MS problems occuring which they think may have have triggered this disease.

I am asking as about 5 years ago (2003), (My very first symptom occurred Aug 2006) I had a virus that caused a rash all over my body which at first they thought was Chicken Pox-it wasn't.
I ended up being diagnosed with a viral rash called Pitisyrus Rosea (Not sure of the spelling). Apparantly it can last on the body for up to 3 months and then goes and mainly effects the trunk of the body-it is just caused from a virus.
Well it started to go after about 6 weeks and then I had a fever one night and the spots were back the next morning with avengeance.-
Back to the Doctor and this time it was Chicken Pox.

I have always said to everyone that I had not been the same since being whacked like that-I really do feel that this triggered MS for me.
Has anyone else had any experiences that stand out in their minds like that?

Look forward to hearing any responses.

" Extreme prolonged stress seems to have brought on the first attacks for me. Company went public in the late 90's, lots of stress & overtime. Started menopause, acquired allergies never experienced before, and became sensitive to sodium (feet/hands swelled up w/water retention). Also had first symptoms of MS. 2nd attack was stress too - last year in college, struggling with a couple of tough courses & trying to work almost full time.

Outside of these instances, I have always been ridiculously healthy, usually never even got the usual seasonal colds/flu every year. "

" My triggers seem to be heat, lack of sleep, stress, and hormones. My worst sustained flares seemed to have occurred when I was a HS teacher (although I didn't really know it then it was before my dx). I do recall that my sx's do worsen when I am sick. Last winter I got the flu pretty bad and I had trouble with leg paralysis. Hope that helps! XOXOXO

" I did fall and tear the ligaments in my ankle 6 days before my "big hit" and it was also 5 days before Christmas and I still had shopping to do and I have Christmas at my house for the whole family and I was also swamped with video work. So I was major stressed and the day after Christmas I woke up with a numb left side and double vision. "

" I first started having mild symptoms after having a fall that hurt my back/neck. Ever since my fall, I started having significant digestive problems and got sick easily. I then got Mono and was very weak for about a year (my first year of college). I finished up my studies from the hospital. My first big relapse was at the end of graduate school which was a very stressful time. "

" Stress. I have found in my journals that I've kept since 1986 that I suffered from disabeling headaches. The stress in my house was horrible (birth of twin sisters, mother a severe alcoholic). I noticed each time I get subjected to severe stresses I get symptoms and another flare-up "
