" I'm 43 and I have been using a walker for about 3 years off and on, when my legs wont hold me up. I tried a cane, but the cane just shifts my hips and back and they end up hurting. I was in a wheelchair many years ago when I had two knees with tendonitis, but mostly, I prefer the walker when my legs fold on me. The walker keeps my body straight while walking without the back strain.

Hugs Ellen "

" Bethy, what if you decorated the walker with a big happy face or a cartoon character, make it funny? People will smile at you and your walker as you go whizzing by, and I'll bet you'll smile back at them! "

" Put on a smile and make yourself look good and you get people saying what walker I never saw it. I have used one off and on since I was 45 and now I am 48 get one that is your personality color red or blue or gold make it your own. The seat for long lines is great. So look for one that is somfortable when you are buying. Easy to get in and out of places for lifting if you try the size out too. It does have many advantages. good luck! "

" all im going to worry about is the colour of it, and the style of course. im going out for a walk with my mom tomorrow which should be fun

im at the stage now that as embarassing as it is to use a cane or walker, wouldnt it be more embarassing to fall in public? (which ive done several times)

its my life and just because i need a device to get around easily, dont i deserve to do all the regular things? this is my life and ill be damned if im going to compromise my happiness because someone else is a jerk!

i think if i put a happy face on it, ill feel crazy hahah. its not my style anyway..ill just use my killer smile to win people over hahah

thanks everyone! "

" I'm 40 and consider myself to be too young for a walker! I have a nice burgundy one with a seat. Heather is right, get one with a seat. I can walk farther distances with the walker than I can with a cane.

My walker also has a back support bar. So it usually ends up as the coat holder. When we do that it looks like a stroller. You should see the looks on people's faces when they look down and don't see a baby in the buggy! LOL! "
