Does anyone ever just get tired of people feeling sorry for themselves that have MS? Does anyone think that yeah it sucks......but there ARE worse things in life! I try to live my life this way....I don't want people to feel sorry for me. I am still a capable intelligent member of society no matter what illness I have! Sure there are crap times, but everyone has them.......isn't it time to rise above the pity and reclaim our lives??

We all deal with things in our own way.
I have friends who deal with this disease by being angry some by being sad, and others, by being a little of both. Me..for now, I laugh, and I smile, because that's what I have ALWAYS done. If one day I don't feel like smiling anymore, I would hope that someone would kick me in the ass and remind me of all the good things I still have in my life. And yes, I AM a peacemaker, another thing I always have been. I remember when that was a GOOD thing.

it's a rollercoaster, MS is never boring, why stay centered when you can swing all over the rainbow?

No, I'm not tired of it as everybody goes through stages with this disease. Especially during a flare-up (which you are fortunate to not have anymore according to you) it sucks. It depends on the support you have, how you were brought up, etc. I feel sorry for myself at times because I don't see why I have this disease, I had a crappy, violent childhood, I had it very rough in life, I thought I would finally be able to enjoy life to the fullest, but something called MS is not allowing me to make those plans at this stage during my disease.
I don't feel like I'm pitied at all... many people know crap about this disease and I love to enlighten them, if they still feel pity, that's THEIR problem.

When I was dx'd, Dec. 1988, the airliner had just been blown up over Lockerbee, Scotland and I had just learned that a friend of mine and his wife were dying of AIDS. Those things put reality into a much different perspective. I hadn't done anything to cause the ms and I wasn't going to die from it. My friends were leaving two young children and that pissed me off. My perspective hasn't changed.

hmmm, this touchy subject has certainly come up before...
this is a support group and if I am having a pity party one day, so be it.... I am entitled for my own reasons...bear with me and be a friend and it will pass.. . Do not make me feel bad about it, jeeezz .

Well, today I suppose that I feel lucky that my MS seems to be fairly benign with limited pain. Also that it first appeared in my late 20's when my son was a manageable age.
Cannot imagine what one would do with a young child to raise, plus MS.
