MS & How a cold affects you

Since last year every time I get a cold, I seem to get Vertigo. I also run fevers quite often now. I feel more tired and run down, and just off balanced. This Vertigo and the migraines are really a killer though.

Do you find that you have more symptoms with a cold? Are there any things you do to minimize symptoms? Do you find anything helpful?

Thanks again everyone!

" Luckily I haven't experienced this personally, but when anyone in my family has even a small cold we don't go near my mother who has ppms. Her immune system is so out-of-whack that she will catch any bug she comes in contact with and will be flat in bed for at least a week. Something that gives other people the sniffles will leave her with a high fever, migraines and severe flu-like syptoms. She now gets a flu shot every fall and that seems like it has helped. I wish I had a better remedy for you! "

" anytime I feel a cold coming on or any other kind of sickness I take Airborne, or alka seltzer immunity booster. It is filled with vitamins and minerals and really cuts down on the severity and you get better faster. I just started giving it to my kids when someone else gets sick, so that they don't. lots of love kim "

" You have to remember that haveing MS tends to make every little thing we get worse than the average person. A cold that you use to shake in days can last weeks. The best thing to do I have found is to bite the bulit and REST. Even if you have to spend three days in bed you will get better faster. Take the pain pills you need the medicine whatever and rest even if it's more than you normaly would. If you don;t you will feel sicker much longer and may even get something worse. "

" All I can tell you is that I was sick in May, while I was taking medications for my symptoms, and I was out of action for over a week. Then, 2 weeks ago, after stopping all my medications, I got sick, popped Dayquil, rested for three days, and went back to work as if I was never sick. Hope that helps. "
