Rebif or Betaseron???

I am going to begin treatment ASAP and need to make a decision between Rebif and Betaseron. I would like to go on the MOST effective/stronger treatment (but as you all know these two drugs have not had a head-to-head study and are pratically the same in efficacy) so I am torn!

I realize that every body and disease is different person to person, but I am looking for some feedback from people who started either of these treatments. What was your injection site reaztions, side effects, and success??? HOw long did each last for you? I hear tht Rebif has a lot more "burning" due to the PH level..did you feel that??

" I just took my fourth injection as of yesterday 4/20/08 and so far no adverse reactions. They start with a small dose 25cc's and will increase every two weeks until I am up to a full dose. I need to take 400 mg of motrin one hour before the injection. I am still having pain in my neck, shoulders, back of head, right arm, and lower back even though I've been on pain medication for two weeks. I am hoping something kicks in soon. Good luck with your decision. Not sure when you posted this. "

" I am on my 2nd week of Rebif. Only have had slight headaches. It hurts more in the leg to me. I have done fine I guess. I hope I have very little side effects when I move up on Friday to the next dose. "

" i have been on rebif since 2006 and my symptoms have not come back since. i take 3 shots a week and i have found if i take them out of the frig in the a.m. that it doesnt burn as bad when i inject at night before i go to bed. i have only had the shakes one time and that was a couple of weeks ago, couldnt stop shivering in bed. was weird. it works for me and i have felt great. i also try to keep a good attitude and delete as much stress from my life and i have been much happier. i havent had a flare up since 2006. " Hi Shopgal, I have been on Rebif since the end of March and I too started of at quarter dose and am now up the full dose. Take 1 Brufen and two panadol osteo about 1 hour before injectiong and always inject in the evening on Mon Wed and Fridays. I have had no side effects whatsoever other than about 2-3 days after the injection I end up with a red mark about the size of a 50c piece. These marks last a couple of weeks on my body. I do not inject in my arms because here in Aus it gets very warm so your in tank tops and short sleeves a lot. I do have the stinging after an injection. Some areas are worse than others. Here in Australia though the drug nurse informed me that they are trying to make Rebif that does not sting and hopefully it will be available by next year.
Make sure you take your medication out of the fridge for at least an hour before injecting too. Good luck and let us all know how you go and what you decide to do.
P.S I was so scared about inecting and never thought I could see this becoming a routine part of my life-but 3 months later I do well. You can do it too if I can.
