Hi, just want some advice on how to support my friend that was just diagnosed with MS. I know she is scared and has always been there for me so I want to know what to say to her and the best way to support her. I don't know much about MS. Any help please.

" I'm giving you a HUGE hug as a thank you for being such a fantastic friend.

I was recently diagnosed and know there is going to be a thousand questions and worries milling around in your friends head, just be yourself and care for your friend, support her in the best way you can, and remember that even though we look like anyone else out there, we deal with a lot of symptoms on a daily basis that can be hard to see and understand..l. :) "

" I agree with what others have said & it is great that you are reaching out. What I have found to be real good with some of my friends that are a long way away so it is phone & email contact is that they keep in contact regular & if I dont email/phone for a bit they email/phone me to see how I am & if I use the standard line "Oh I am doing ok" they say dont give the standard crap how are you really & then listen. That has meant a lot to me esp if I am struggling. They dont give me advice just listen & sometimes will ask if I have told hubby or anyone else about it & if not why not?? I always finish the phone call feeling better as after they have listened to me we then chat about normal everyday stuff - families, work etc just like usual & everyone else does.
As others said, be there & listen. "
