" DH has high blood pressure and cholesteroal issues so Dr. recommended 4 oz of red wine a day. So we pour a glass at dinner. i sip off his but he drinks way faster than i do. I probably get one or two ounces. It helps me relax if I need but not much effect.

i can't finish a whole glass without feeling loopy.

I was always a cheap date. "

" I remember posting something a while ago about alcohol being a CNS depressant. Before my TN (and MS) was diagnosed, the only relief I could get was from several glasses of wine.

I'm with everyone else about balance and being a cheap drunk, etc., but I do believe that alcohol likely calms neuropathic pain.

Just my theory. -Diane "

" I don't drink because once I start I can't stop. As a natural remedy I saw on net a while back they say to soak raisons in gin or maybe vodka until they plump up and absorb all the booze. Eat the raisins over a course of a day or so. The raisons and alcohol stay in system for quite a while and is supposed to really help with back pain. Just don't take them to work for coffee break LOL. take care (turtle) "

" Well...in my late teens and early twenties my then fiance and I would go out, go dancing every weekend, and he'd have me try this drink and that drink, although I wasn't much on drinking alcohol...weird as it may sound, I loved 7 up more than a drink. But there was this one night when I didnt have anything to eat all day and had a few "girlscout cookies" mixed drinks...loved those. I was dancing and suddenly couldnt find the floor. And then, I got really really hot and needed to shed clothing, much to my fiance's delight...but I never did...I got to the car, I dont remember who drove us back home...I do remember having all the windows down in the car cuz I was just HOT! My fiance was so excited to get back to my house to a nice private space and then I must have passed out. He was NOT happy with me! But when I woke up the next morning....I felt like....well sometimes how I do now without the alcohol -- not fun! So I decided I really didnt need to return to that lovely feeling, especially foggy state of mind...I can do that all on my own without the alcohol, so have never since returned there.

My weakness is red wine though. A couple of sips and might as well give me the bottle and have a nice day. So I dont touch the stuff.

But how do I get? I get punch drunk...like I do when I get overtired. I slur my words, walk tipsy, laugh in the air at nothing, and get warm all over, .....kind of like I do now without the alcohol...LOL. Go figure!

Hugs! Ellen "
