MS hug question

I've seen the MS hug described many times, and never really saw the symptoms fit what I'm dealing with now fit.

I have pain in my right side. It feels like you've been running and you get a 'stitch' in your side. It becomes quite painful, can't take deep breaths, etc. It feels like your muscles are extremely sore. The thing is, it goes away after a few hours, with or without medication. I wear a fentanyl patch around the clock and can't really feel any pain, but this pain is not affected by the fentanyl or any other pain medication/muscle relaxer.

Could this be the MS hug? Or what could this be? Its driving me crazy as it is quite painful.

Thanks!

" all I csan tell you Christine is i have been haveing the same problem for over 2 months now. they removed my gallbladder 3 weeks ago because it wasnt functioning right. I thought for sure the problem would go away but it hasent. I think I may have had 2 problems going on at the same time because the nausea is gone and one form of the pain but I still cant take a deep breath without pain under my right rib cage. some times IBprofen does help.

" thank you April. I had my gallbladder out 1.5 years ago now and I don't have that particular pain anymore, so I'm sure it was the right decision too. Its just this pain really feels odd and isn't constant. Thank you for responding! "

" I have the same feeling in the same place. Only difference is, the severity waxes and wanes, but is always there. *sigh* I too had my gallbladder removed, but the pain persisted. After a bunch of tests, the docs found that there is "nerve damage" on the spinal nerves that run in that area (T8,9, & 10)

My guess is that is an active area of demylenation for you like it is me... "

" I HAVE HAD MS HUGS, IT FEELS LIKE A TIGHT BELT UNDER MY CHEST, ALL THE WAY AROUND MY MIDSECTION. AT TIMES IT WAS HARD TO BREATH. IT DIDN'T REALLY HURT, BUT WAS SCARY. IT MADE IT HARD TO FALL ASLEEP.

I HAVE TO TELL YOU, I TOO AM A CAT LOVER, BIG TIME. WAS RAISED THE STREET ACROSS FROM A DAIRY FARM. LOTS OF CATS DROPPED OFF THERE, WHICH ENDED UP AT OUR HOUSE, MY MOM TOOK THEM IN. OUR MAX WAS 14 CATS! BY THE WAY, YOUR PICTUED CAT LOOKS A LOT LIKE MY CAT "SCOOTER". "

" Christin, I've had this numerous times in my life...sometimes it gets so bad that I can't hardly breathe. My PCP kept Dx me with Pleurisy, but I've been reading and researching, and have discovered that Costochondritis is common with Fibromyalgia. It could be this.

I saw on your Profile, that you have Fibro...so do I. You might ask your Dr. about it. Nothing ever seemed to help me with it except a pain pill, muscle relaxer and lots of rest!! Hope you get to feeling better...b/c I KNOW how bad it HURTS!!!

" I get the "MS hug" it's terrible because it's so uncomfortable. It's a tight banding feeling around my torso. Sometimes it makes breathing seem difficult. Sometimes it goes away. Nothing helps it for me, no med and no stretching will ease it.
Hope you find something to help. "
