Has anyone had an EMG?

I have 2 appointments booked for next week, one with the top neurologist for the movement disorder clinic at UBC, and the other for the metabolic disorders (neuromuscular clinic) for the EMG Lab.

I think I will cancel the EMG Lab appt, I have had that where they stick those needles into your muscles years ago when I lived in Florida and I swore then that I would never have that done again. I really dont even know why I was referred there, I thought they did a history and some detailed blood work, but now I found out different.
I am usually pretty good at tolerating most types of pain, unfortunately this is not one of them.
Has anyone else had this done, and how did you find it to be?

" I had this done in both my arms when they were checking for Carpal Tunnel, it was a little odd being stuck so many times but I did not find it to be a big deal. "

" I had the FULL EMG and the other one whatever it is called. I had a great Doc and said he wished the big bad Marines and Navy seals that had it done complained more than me...I just go to another place and zone out. It wasn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. "

" Only had it done once. I had no feeling from the chest down. Don't think the doc believed me. I felt nothing. Heard it is painful. "

" I guess I am just a big baby, my resolve is just not that strong right now, and I do not feel like being subjected to anything unnecessarily unpleasant right now. Sometimes I get to the point where I just dont care if anyone finds out what is going on with me or not and that I will just go on living each day the best I can ..one day at a time "

" I had it done and will never have it again. I ending up kicking the tech and knocked her off her chair. It hurt like hell and my legs were jumping all over the place.
BUT, that's just my experience. Yours may not hurt at all! "

" Well I did cancel the appt. for the EMG. I asked for my doctor to give me a call to discuss this and didnt hear from her, also asked the EMG Lab to call so I could talk to them about what exactly they where going to do and they didnt call back in time, I left a message and canceled the appt. I am just not up for it. "
