All I can say is guess not.. ?? Or maybe people just missed this post because they move so quickly..
For me, it seemed to be MS from the start only to rule out other things as well.. Even though, four years ago, MS was also ruled out and I was told I had pressure on my brain stem and mini-strokes...
I hope you find your answer. Take care! Clare

Lupus and MS are both autoimmune diseases. In MS the myelin sheath around the nerves are damaged. LUPUS however, is NOT limited to nerve damage it can hit any organ. It, unlike MS, gets worse as you are out in the sun. Do you have problems with autonomic and paranomic nerves OR do you have problems with other organs such as liver, skin rashes, etc??
-Best Wishes to you.
Might want to check ou the main board discussion on B12:Synthesis of B12 posted Wed May 7.

Hi Yetza, I offen wondered if they have made a mistake with my diagnose of MS with the problems I have with the numbness and tingling. I am involved in a MS study so I guess I officially have the right diagnose but I still think sometimes I might have Lupus because my oldest sister has it. She has had it for yrs. She has some of MS symptoms too. So when I officially finish this study then it will ease my mine. Although I couldnt wait to get a diagnose which took 6 months but now I question it all the time because of what my sister was diagnosed with. I know at the beginning with my sisters diagnose they thought she had MS at first so it seems like you are always questioning which one you have. Do you have alot of tingly and numbness? Take Care. Mary :-)

yes on my right side i have stiffness and tingling and on the left side i cant feel hot or cold, i have achy joints, skin pain, cognitive problems, but i did have the double strand test that they usually use to identify lupus and a whole bunch of other test and the rheumy said i dont have lupus. What does that study consist of, and who is doing it? Thanks for your input

on a recent trip to the ER, the dr. there did scare me with suggesting i had lupus in addition to MS! some diagnostic tests were false positive, but the clincher (in my mind)-- the ANA blood test, was completely normal.

My ANA came back positive, but my neuro said this isn't uncommon even for someone with no health issues. He did have me see a rhuem. just to make sure. Lupus can copy ms from what I've been told, but there are several symptoms that are lupus specific.

i had a bunch of test after that and the rheumatoid factor and ana still came out false positive, but the other test that are specific to lupus came fine, its funny how these things work.
