I've been searching all over the internet for a support group to address this issue. The day after Christmas my son's stomach was hurting. It turns out that he was bleeding into his abdomen from a ruptured spleen. He nearly died. He spent 9 days in the hospital.
He has mono. The mono caused his spleen to enlarge and physical activity cause it to rupture. We are going tomorrow to a hemotologist to get advise on how to proceed with treatment. Once you lose your spleen your immune system is very weakened. He's now at high risk for infections. Even a sinus infection could become dangerous.
