Would love to hear from members who have used cantharidin (blistering agent produced by a beetle, yes, a beetle) as a treatment measure for molluscum contagiosum.

" My 9 year old had canthardin treatment yesterday. So far it has been horrible. It has been quite painful for her. She says it burns and strings and itches. She cries when ever something touches or bumps the spots. She had trouble sleeping last night. The appearance of the blisters frighten her. I don't know what to do to make her more comfortable.

I wish we had chosen evisceration. She only had a few, and I think it would have been less painful in the long run. Prior to treatment, she actually popped one herself from scratching so much. I just cleaned it up and treated it like any other small cut, first-aid cream and a band-aid. It didn't bother her at all and healed up quickly. "

" Tried it 2 days ago on my 5yr old son who has a pretty bad case of MCV over both legs, both elbows and now his face. Now going on a yr of dealing with it. Finally decided to try it b/c summer is approaching & I dont want to keep him out of the pool. The 1st nite was awful as MD spilled some of it on his good skin causing a huge painful blister!! I felt bad for putting my son thru that. Dont know if it was the best thing to do. It is 2 soon to tell. He has many lesions and the medicine was only applied to a few of the larger ones. Im really frustrated with this whole thing. If you or anyone has any suggestions that work I would love to hear them. My MD basically says it has to run its course. He only treated because my son developed a secondary infection on some of the warts. "
