Yes, my HCG levels had to be checked for two weeks because they weren't back to normal. When your levels drop to 0 then they'll stop testing. Hope this helps sorry for your loss. God Bless

I also had to have regular blood tests after my miscarriage. Every 46 hours. You start to feel like a bit of a pin cushion after a while! But as melody said, as soon as they drop to 0 no more tests! Stay strong xx

They need to track you to zero. They want to make sure that your uterus is clear of any remenants so as to not cause infection. At least that's what I understood from my OB. I too was told 3 to 6 months of not getting pregnant, but then I told my OB that I had an appointment with the RE Oct. 24, and he was fine with it.???? Whatever, the sooner the better in my opinion.

When I had my m/c no one even told me about any of this! Great.. only thing I had done afterwards was an u/s to see if my uterus was empty and clear. And it was.

I have to do this too. I had a m/c on 9/15 and I'm still going to get my hcg levels checked. (At first I had to go every other day, then as my dr saw my levels consistently decreasing she said I only had to go a couple times a week) My last blood test on Monday showed my levels are at 7, and I still have to go until they reach 0.

Hi. I have had my hcg level checked after miscarriage. Mine went down rather quickly. However, I was told to wait about two months before trying to get pregnant again. I am truly sorry for your lose.

What you experienced is called a 'molar pregnancy' Please do some reasearch into this and listen to your doctor. They will check you for some time to see if your Hcg begin to rise again. If the levels rise it can indicate a potentially serious problem.

I had my levels followed for some time, but they didn't follow all the way to 0. My doctor stopped at around 14. One doctor was willing to stop at 83 (from over 4000), but I was in for other blood work so they checked them again. Below 5 is considered normal for a non-pregnant woman. Normally you go every couple of days to make sure the levels are falling, then they might spread out the tests to once a week. I got the impression from my numbers that the initial drop is sharp and then it drops more slowly.

I don't know about he molar part or what makes that, but your baby got two sets of chromosomes from either you or your husband. I know that because my baby was tetraploid, he had two full sets in each cell. They should have said whether it was XXY or XXX. If all Xs, you had a girl. If the Y, you had a boy. My son was XXYY. As to why the tests and why the 6 month wait, I'm not sure. At my two week check up since my uterus felt fine, she said two complete cycles, preferably three. They never bothered to check hcg levels and said as long as my period came within 8 weeks, she wouldn't put me through that. If you find anything else out let me know.
