When my husband went through basic it was awlful. I missed him so much. I only got to talk to him maybe once a week for a few mins. I thanked God when I would get letters from him. It will be the longest 6 weeks. But trust me his is making all of us proud and has choosen to make a great life for himself. We have recently completed our first tour and my husband resigns for his second this coming Monday. If you need to talk I am here. Know that he is all of our heros for standing up and giving his life to serve his country!!!!

my brother went through boot camp for 3 months. we got nothing but letters. no phone calls or anything. but the letters gave us hope and we still have them today. and if its the same as my brother...they will come back as a different person. in a good way though. my brother came back alot more mature and i really think boot camp was a good thing for him. but hang in there and i am here if you want to talk =)

Well I don't have a child that went through boot camp. But I went through boot camp. My parents went nuts. But don't worry, I'm sure whenever your son is able he'll contact you, being able to call home and getting letters from home is always a HUGE pick me up at boot camp.

I, also, am one of those who doesn't have a child in boot camp, but have had a close friend go through. He didn't have a lot of time to write or make phone calls (they stay pretty busy), but he's kept every letter that was sent to him then. Even if they are mundane, every day, "just wanted to say hi!" letters, they will be appreciated. Keep them up-beat and positive, and remind him that you love him--that's the best thing I can recommend. Hope that helps! Best of luck!

My son left for Fort Sill, OK 2 months ago. It is getting easier, I know exactally how you feel! It really helps getting the letters, I have even gotten 2 phone calls. Depressed, anxiety, wanting to cry every time I think about him and no one has the right words for me. That is how I felt. I am alittle better now. It has helped talking to people here because they know what your going through and can help you through it. Any time you want to talk let me know....
