most of the time I do.I often see what looks like lightning bugs flying around, or something simalar to what you see when you looked straight at the sun or a bright light then turned away and you still see that spot there.Sometimes there just isn't one, I wake up with the migraine or it hits sudden, ect..
hope that helps.

Most of the time I, too get auras. Mine are spots and it is like bitemefrog says; it is like when you look at the sun for a minute and turn away...you'll see spots when you eyes are trying to adjust. Sometimes I don't get them. I have brutal migraines and when they strike it is fast and hard always. Good luck with yours and your medication. You will learn when one is coming on.

Not everyone who gets migraines gets auras when they get them. In fact, it is more common not to. If you don't know you're getting them, I'd guess you're not. But then, I'm no doctor. Good luck with your meds.

Most of the time I do but I do have times where there is no warning. I had auras that looked like silver rain. Like it is raining outside but in and silver. I also have optical migraines. I have chronic daily migraines with severe migraines.

I get auras with my migraines a few times a week... I get the same thing as bitemefrog, but also little zig zag floating lines in my eyes. My vision field also decreases it's like seeing into the center of a circle, everything else gets cloudy or dark. Another kind of aura that I get at time is when you see a road sign and you can't see some of the letters, they start disappearing on you, or you... This happens about once every other month or so, not as often. After an aura, I know that I'm going to have a huge headache within a half hour. It helps to drink A LOT of water!

Hi Ani- I've never had an aura either, I understand it's just another type of migraine. I also take Axert and love it since it seems to have no side effects. My neuro said it's one of the milder migraine meds. Cathy

If you have get an aura you know it immediately. I can be looking at someone in the face and not be able to see their face because of the zig zagging lines and flashing. I guess I have them pretty severely because I cannot see anything at all in either eye when I have them, the aura takes over my entire visual field. Its horrible, be glad if you do not experience them!

My auras are the same as Julielynns, my visual field decreases, I can sometimes only see in the center, everything either goes dark, cloudy or with zig zag lines. When you try and read something you can't see the beginning or ends of the words or sentences, sometimes if it's a bill board you can't or the tails of letters like a "p, g, j or y's" After the aura's I have about 20 - 30 minutes to race home because the headache part of the migraine is usually on it's way. Drinking a LOT of water during this time sometimes helps.

I've only gotten an aura once, and it happened at school. I had no idea what it was and almost freaked out until my friend Nicole said that's what it probably was. That made me feel better. But for the most part I just get the blinding pain on the right side of my head and sensitivity to light.
