Migraine Headaches Support Group

For me, I usually get a dull pain in the left temple area and will notice spike pain with direct light. If I take Maxalt (spelling may be off) at this point it usually ends there. However if I cannot take the meds, the pain will progress to a severity hard to explain. I have to hide from sound and light, scents, movements, vibrations, etc. or I will vomit which then makes the pain more severe and any meds I take at that point are useless. I have suppository meds for the nausea but even they do not help most of the time. By day three it turns into severe diarrhea. By day four I can feel relief coming and return to the living.

Keys for me are NO RED WINES, NO CHEAP BEERS, NO HARD ALCOHOL, NO HOTDOGS OR OTHER PROCESSED MEATS, NO MSG. And never let my prescription of maxalt run out like it is right now.....,

Mine always starts on the left side of my head, I have FRova to take, sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. So I take one and PRAY!! I go to bed, no light, no sound, just quitness, sometimes if it is a REALLY bad one, I can't even stand to lay down. 2 hours later, I take another Frova, stay in bed... if no relief has come by now, usually the throwing up starts, my blood sugar and blood pressure go sky high and I have to call the Dr. for a rescue shot, ALso, I have tingling and some numbness on the left side of my head and sometimes my vision gets really blurry in my left eye. Either way IT IS NOT A GOOD THING!!!!!!! Lori

Right sided severe throbbing, stabbing pain. Either more towards the temple and parietal lobe, or sitting on the eye.

Consistent symptoms:
Nausea
Photophobia
Phonophobia
Dizziness

Ones that aren't all the time:
Aura (which can be flashing lights, blank spots, tunnel vision, graying out of vision like snow on a television set, or complete loss of vision)
Confusion
Numbness (can be in the face, right hand, or right leg, or all)
Loss of fine motor coodination
Allodynia (extreme sensitivity of the skin to the point of pain)
Cyclical vomiting from gastroparesis


From severity of pain:
My hands and feet will freeze. A lot of people have this symptom with migraines, but for me it ends up only happening depending on how severe it is.
I end up having what I call "The Body Throb" where my whole body rocks with each pulse of my head.
And I used to lose consciousness, but haven't for a very long time.
