Botox For Migraines

On March 11th, I had Botox injections for my severe migraines. I promised to update everyone with my results.
Background: I suffered with at least 20 migraines a month. Was taking: Topomax (200mg), Reglan, Maxalt, Imitrex injections, Migrelief, Aspirin, Vicodin, and received nerve block injections, and was hospitalized twice.
Finally received 100cc of Botox (in forehead, scalp, neck, shoulder). First 10 days I had side effects: fullness, pain at injection spots, droppy eye.
Now 2 months later, I only have a mild head ache once in a while and OTC Excedrin Migraine takes it away.
However, the Botox is starting to wear off, and I do have to wait 1 more month before the insurance company will pay their 80% share.
I will let you know how this last month goes, but I must say, "Botox worked for me".

" Just in case people are on the fence about Botox, a deciding factor for you may be that it works better for implosive head pain.

Implosive head pain is when the pain feels like your head will cave in, as opposive to explosive pain (where it feels like your head will explode), or orbital pain (pain which is generally only associated with the eye). Another possibility of responding to this treatment is cutaneous allodynia (where you have excess skin sensitivity [your hair and skin hurting]). The allodynia response to Botox is report to be at 70%. I don't have any numerical statistics to any other. Another possibility of response to Botox is when your migraines are triggered by cervicogenical headache (a headache which is triggered by pain, spasm, muscle pain in the neck).

You can have more than one type of this head pain.

Take care,
Laura "

" I agree with celticfife!
I have a bulging disc in my neck. I believe my migraine pain comes from my neck. And, my migraine pain is in the right eye, it feels like an ice pick.
So, I was the perfect cadidate for Botox! "
