Yes unfortunately it is contagious. Working in the medical field a lot of times we don't know till its to late. The best thing is good handwashing and disinfectants. I Know you think they may have gotten it from you, and maybe they did. But unfortunately they could have gotten it from anywhere. Don't be hard on yourself this is by no means your fault. I am not a germ a phobic but sometimes I think if we were we would all be better off.

Thank you, I know it isn't our fault, but at the same time I can't help feeling partly at blame. What really gets me is this.. yesterday my son (who has MRSA) was in the ER for hurting himself, however he has a open MRSA sore on his eyelid, we can't cover this area and the ER put a man with a big wound in his leg in the bed next to us. As far as I have learned my son should be in isolation. They knew he has MRSA and yet the took no precautions.

I havn't given it to anyone but I got it from my grandmother. The nurseing home that she was in lied to me about her being contagious.Don't feel bad I had misinformation form all differant docs and it can be hard not to spread it no matter how carefull you are.It is the nature of this disease.I hope things get better for your whole family soon, I have a reoccurance of it as well and I worry about those that care for me.I will be praying for you.

we have had 3 out of 4 family members in our house get it in less than 7 weeks. You will have a hard time convincing me this is not living in my house!! I feel your concern.

I am so sorry. I can truly understand. My brother and grandpa are both diabetic and I would be devestated if I gave this to them. That, and giving it to my children or my spouse is my biggest worry. People around me have gotten boils while I was having a breakout but fortunately, for whatever reason, theirs have Not been recurring. They all seemed to just have the one breakout and that was it. Maybe your sister will be one of those fortunate ones too. Love and Prayers

I am new to having MRSA and I haven't been able to get a lot of information from my doctor about MRSA. Just wash your hands and keep up your hygiene and then they directed me to the CDC website. I have concerns about how contagious it is. I had the skin infection kind of breakout - is this what you are referring to, or do you have the kind that gets into your bloodstream? I am concerned because I was told mine was only contagious through skin to skin contact. I had spent the night with my boyfriend 2 nights before my breakout and he has had no signs of it - he has Hep C and so I was even more concerned for him. I have only had one outbreak, in early December, and so far, thank zGod no one else I know has been infected. If you have it as a skin infection, is it in your saliva too? I'm afraid and have not been able to get any good information. Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I am just really paranoid. I tried to see and infectious disease specialist but they wanted a 3 month history from my dr before they would decide to take me as a patient or not. What is going on?

I was told that it took open sore to open sore contact to spread MRSA. That was 2 years ago. Maybe they've found other ways for it to spread. All I know, since I'm a carrier, is that I treat every break in the skin with utmost care. I don't want it again. I had i 4 times in an 8 week period.
