MRSA Eradication Protocol

Still getting many questions from DS members about how to possibly "rid" their system of MRSA or get rid of MRSA in those who are colonized so here it is again:

Regarding people who are colonized with MRSA...and want to eradicate MRSA from their system. Yes there is a protocol that the CDC has NOT officially endorsed yet. It is a 5 day protocol which is the following
1) chlorhexidine gluconate 4% (Hibiclens) to wash daily
2) Bactroban nasal ointment one application to each nostril three times daily
3) Chlorhexidine gluconate mouthwash 0.2% or oral spray 0.2% gargled or sprayed to the throat four times a day.
Check out the CDC website for more facts.

Help?? "

" Tiggerific and others,

I am wondering if after this is all said and done, will my insurance most likely cover the cost of getting skin swab for MRSA? Oh and how much does that lab work cost if you know?

Regards,

ltp "
