Hi everyone, I just joined this forum to learn more about MRSA and to find answers to my questions. A little history first......about a year ago I got sick with flu like symptoms (fever, joint pain, fatigue/tired, sore throat, nausea, headaches, and pimples/boils/ spider bite looking sores). I never went to the doctor, but really never fully recovered. The spider bite looking sores have not returned and the fever is gone, but I have the other symptoms. Now I have been going to doctors and they say it's all in my head. I asked them if I could have MRSA and they say only if I have a sore or infection. Well, I don't have sores or an infection, but I have all the other symptoms. The doctors have been no help to me. Now my family and in-laws have similar symptoms and I don't know what to do. I did the nose swab test and it came up negative for MRSA, but I heard that the swab is not a 100% accurate. I had one doctor tell me that MRSA go's away on it's own, but what I have read on this and other forums people have had it for more then 10 years. I don't know what to believe.

I guess my question is does MRSA just go away on it's own?

And is there a test besides a nose swab (i.e. blood or urine test) that my doctor can give me?

" I am not sure about any other tests besides a blood culture.I have had these many times and it came up positive when the nasal swab came up negative.I had hospital aquired MRSA in my blood stream from stitches on my abdomin wall.I too was told so many differant things about it going away or never getting rid of it, there is not consistant info avalible.
What I have learned is you can be collinized or have it without symptoms and it can come back though a infection or sore.I like many here have had other health problems since MRSA and have a hard time healing with every infection or sore, MRSA positive or not.I wish I could help more.Msg me and I will try to answer you questions if I can. " mrsa is not curable but can colonize. You can also get a rash from just the normal strep bacteria not necessarily mrsa. But should go away with medication and antibiotics.

When I was younger in my early teens I had those symptoms you described and didn't go to the doctor either. Well I ended up with mono. Now I am not saying you have mono in anyway. I would suggestion have some blood work done at your doctors and let them try and figure out what is going on. If they won't listen find a doctor that will. Good luck and take care. "

" Hi,
I don't know if there are still any good answers out there. Doctors seem to have varying opionions on how to treat MRSA. It is true that many people can be colonized with it and never suffer an outbreak. The nasal swab proved positive for me and that is how they confirmed it. I don't know if it will show up in your blood unless its enter your blood stream, to date mine has not, it remains a skin infection. Unless you get another outbreak, i.e. boil or cellulitus I wouldn't worry -- there is no medicine they can give you anyway. Try to remain positive. Best of luck. "

" I know that Medical community
boohoos the lingering after-
effects of MRSA, but after 13 years of dealing with it, and beyond the full blown infections, the residual problems only seem to get
worse, as time goes on? The
doctors are starting to pay
a little more attention, but
isn't it amazing how much press MRSA got, when that kid died....it is now, notgetting
any attention, once more.
What has to happen before
people will open their eyes? "
