Oral antibiotics for MRSA

Im cutting and pasting this from our dicussion last year in response to some questions from you guys about which oral antibiotics work for MRSA skin and soft tissue infections:

According to the most recent published IDSA (Infectious Disease Society of America) guidelines for skin and soft tissue infections 50% of MRSA strains have inducible or constitutive (can enact so to speak) CLINDAMYCIN RESISTANCE.

To all the people on this community I say this: PROGRESSION DESPITE ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY should raise flags for resistant microbes OR a deeper/more serious infection.

Again...a list of first line ORAL therapy for MRSA per the IDSA guidelines: Daptomycin (cubicin), doxycycline (vibramycin), minocycline (minocin), Linezolid (Zyvox)....and AFTER you get the culture results you can see if it is sensitive to Clindamycin, Septra (Bactrim), etc
