calcium recommendations?

I'd like to start taking calcium supplements and I hate taking those big pills like most vitamins are now. I have to get my daily vitamin in "easy to swallow" form. I've tried Viactiv cuz you can chew it but I don't like the taste of those. Are there any easy to swallow or other chewable calcium supplements out there?

" While I was looking for the Caltrate chewables, I saw "Citracal Petites" and it said "smaller size, easy to swallow" on the package so I bought those. I just got back to work and opened them and they aren't as small as my "easy to swallow One-A-Day's" but they are small enough for me to swallow easily without gagging like I do on the bigger pills. Glad you pointed me in that direction cuz I found something that's going to work for me. Thanks. "

" If I remember corectly, their web site says you can crush the tabs and put in applesauce etc. I wouldn't heat it in any way but crushing will work.
I've only been on the Caltrate a couple weeks. Hope my next bone scan shows improvment 'cause the last one wasn't lookng to good. "

" According to "Menopause Without Medicine" by Linda Ojeda, the recommended daily amount of calcium we should be taking is 800-2,000 mg, with the toxicity level at 3,000 mg.
You should spread out your intake that is, don't take it all at once, and take it with food (I take 600 mg at lunchtime and my nightime multi-vit has 405 mg. My latest bone density scan showed that I have "the spine of a 17 yr-old; too bad the butt and thighs don't match).
I saw calcium available in 200 and 400 mg tablets at the local drugstore. You can get it also by eating oranges, broccoli, brussel sprouts, grapefruit juice, strawberries, raw tomatoes and green peppers, melons and grapes. (One kiwi alone has 108 mg).
Hope this helps! "

" My doc said for me to take 2 of the Caltrate+D a day. They are 600 mg each. They seem to be agreeing with me ok. My bone scan didn't come back ok so I have no choice. "

" Hello Ladies - One of the best ways to get your calcium and magnesium is in this fizzy form (it's the only way I can describe it). It comes in powder form and you put a scoop of it in water and drink it. It is actually quite yummy and a great way to get it. It is absorbed much better in the system this way. It is called "Ionic-Fizz" and you can get it in a small tub or handy little individual packets for travel. Me and some of my friends swear by this stuff. I went on line and found the facts below for you.
