I had my first mirena coil removed a couple of years ago, and it was fine, considering that the thread had never been visible, and I had to have scans at all my check ups. The doctor used a little local anasthetic, and whipped it out in seconds, I just felt a little tug and a little dizzy for a nano second, I had a new one fitted at the same time. Just try to keep relaxed.
