Hi everyone, If hormones can make you really hungry, can they make you lose your appetite as well? I guess it could be the anxiety that accompanies it,, but I fluctuate all the time. Also did you notice how quickly peri hit you. It seems I woke up one day last Nov. and have been riding a roller coaster ever since. This so sucks! Thank God for ativan and antidepressants. HA> HA Love Sandi

Peri-menopause can cause loss of appetite. I am with you. I feel as though the end of March i was hit with a fast ball. BOOM!!!! My life changed so much. I lost over 15 pounds over this. There are times I want to eat a lot then times when i don't. I just feel like this Peri thing is going to be like this forever even though we know it is not.Lets hope for as many good days as possible!!!!!!!!

Good morning,
It's funny that you mention how fast this hit. The exact day for me was 3/15/08. I was sitting at work and started to feel sick. Thought I was getting a virus. From that day, I did not eat anything for over a month I drank ensure and lost over 30 lbs. Then I got my appetite back. Like you said it fluctuates just like everything else in your life at this time. Love you guys and have a good day sandi

I've been drinking "Boost" and other extra protein drinks going on 3 weeks trying to gain some weight. I lost 2 pounds. Down to 108. This is crazy. On top of feeling out of my mind I am weak and not very hopeful this is going to get better.

Wow, I wish I was with you ladies on this one. Seems like I am gaining no matter what I do to drop weight! Counting calories, exercise. But I do agree, I was my normal old self doing great and then, BAM! this!

One day I was perfectly fine and then **BAM**! My life was turned upside down. I was sitting in a chair watching t.v. when I was suddenly dizzy to the point of feeling nauseous, like I'd been spinning around. Very frightening. After a few more of them I finally went to my doc. From the beginning I thought it was peri, but she said no and referred me to doctor after doctor. I've been tested from head to toe with nothing relevant found but I'm still feeling awful before, during and after my periods. Happily I haven't had one since July 6th,and the longer I go without the more I improve. And yes,you can lose your appetite with this! The only good thing to come out of it for me is I've lost over 80 pounds since last year!
My appetite is normal now and I'm still keeping the weight off. So that's at least one positive in a sea of negatives!

My sleep also is effective as well,is yours? I do take Ativan and antidepressants. I do agree with you, this stinks. Take care
