Ya know, I have been battling PeriMenopause for a couple years, actually diagnoised by 3 doctors. Ok I have done every Herb concocsion there is, little success, Progestrone, nothing, and a patch, nothing, so then she put me on Lexapro, at first nothing so she upped my levels, I got sick, the flu, when I felt better I started taking it and after 5 days I was sitting in a hospital they saying I am BiPolar...ok..they say apparently the Lexapro caused a Manic episode....So when I get home I read and read everything about it and think hmmm maybe sounds like me..Its all crazy, am I Both PeriMenopausal and Bipolar ?? I still am having irregular periods, EVERY symptom for Menopause I have had and continue to have.
Feeling Lost with all this.....

" EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT. BUT I DO KNOW GOING THROUGH PERIMENO HAS BEEN VERY ROUGH ON ME. WITH OUR HORMONES CHANGING THE ONLY WAY I CAN DESCRIBE IT IS I HAVE A ROLLER COASTER OF EMOTIONS. SOMEDAYS ARE UP AND OTHERS ARE DOWN. I FEEL LIKE I'M GOING CRAZY. THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT ALL THIS IS IT IS NORMAL TO HAVE THESE FEELINGS. I JUST HAD A VISIT WITH MY GYN, AND I LAID EVRYTHING OUT TO HIM. HE OFFERED A ANTI DEPRESSANT BUT FOR MYSELF I DIDN'T FEEL COMFY WITH THAT IDEA. SO HE PERSCRIBED VALIUM FOR MY BAD DAYS. I HAVEN'T HAD TO USE IT YET, BUT I FEEL BETTER KNOWING THAT IF I HAVE ONE OF MY CRAZY DAYS THAT I HAVE SOMETHING THAT WILL HOPEFULLY CALM ME DOWN. I THINK OUR MEDICAL FIELD IS REAL QUICK TO DX BIPOLAR, FROM WHAT I READ IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU COULD BE HAVING MENO SYMPTOMS. US LADIES ARE SOOOO LUCKY TO HAVE THESE BUMPS IN THE ROAD, BUT WE WILL BE OK!!!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND GOD BLESS. "

" OOH, yes, I just got off the roller coaster myself! I started the major menopause symptoms 2 1/2 yrs ago, and whenever they hit, I warn my husband and child that it's Dr. Jekyl/Ms. Hyde time.
One of the hardest parts of going through this hell is to stop saying "god, I wish I was normal again!" because for us, right now, this IS normal. But it won't last forever (another hard thing to remember when going through it, but I have noticed my episodes have slightly decreased in severity and frequency since they first started.) I JUST started a stronger dose of the patch in hopes to curb the gastrointestinal distress as well as the depression and dementia that is NORMAL for me to get, but I haven't seen any significant change yet (once again, I JUST started).
Anyway, don't be too quick to accept the BiPolar label. My intense mood swings are menopausal, as yours well might be. (After all, how pleasant can anyone expect to be when going through the 35+ symptoms of this Change of Life?) Do keep us informed with what's happening with you, and do know that most of us are going through it, too. (Check out my journal entries and you'll see definite evidence of "BiPolar" behavior!)
Hugs & chocolate kisses!
MKal "

" Good Morning, I am new to this support group and I have to tell you that I too feel like I am going crazy. One minute I am fine, the next I am sitting at my desk with tears rolling down my cheek. I can be laughing one minute and ready to take someone's head off in a flash. I am consistly having Hot flashes and I am not sleeping at all at night with all the night sweats. But my favorite part is the Weight Gain it seems like the less I eat the more I gain. And this goes on for 2 to 5 years??? Help!! "

I have the hot flashes and night sweats maybe 2 weeks, I always say that I am "Normal" 2 weeks of the month, the Other 2 I am a NUT CASE! I think the worse thing for me during that time is the Insomnia, I can go 2 days or more no sleep..Its all a Crazy Cycle! "

" HELLO LADIES I AM NEW TO THIS TOO ABOUT 6 TO 8 MONTHS AGO I STARTED THE JOURNEY TO HELL. THIS IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE, I HAVE NO CONTROL ON HOW I FEEL, MY WEIGHT, FOREVER SWEATING,BASICALLY A MESS. THE HORRIBLE THING ABOUT IT IS THIS HAS JUST BEEN ADDED TO THE LAST 7 YEARS OF FEELING TERRIBLE DUE TO AN ACCIDENT I HAD, HURTING MY SPINE,CAUSING DEPRESSION. NOW I AM CONFUSED AND FRANCKLY SCARED BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. I REALISE I DONT HAVE A CHOICE ON THE FACT, THIS IS LIFE, BUT AM A LITTLE SCARED I CAN'T DEAL WITH ALL WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY BODY AND MIND. I HAVE NOT HAD MUCH LUCK WITH MEDS OVER THE YEARS AND IT WOULD NOT SURPRISE ME IF THEY PULL THE DEPRESSION/BI POLAR STUNT WITH ME, BECAUSE THE SYMPTOMS ARE THERE, BUT IT IS THE HORMONES OUT OF CONTROL.
IF ANY OF YOU LADIES HAVE ANY ADVICE IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU.
I AM FEELING LOST WITH ALL THIS TOO......AND THE MEMORY LOSS...WOW.....THAT IS BAD. ALL OF IT IS BAD,
TAKE CARE,
LOU X "
