I recently attended a seminar by Suzanne Somers regarding Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. I would like information from ladies that have tried it, if it works, and the cost since it is not covered under insurance.

Yes, THANK GOODNESS FOR BHRT, I have a good compounding pharmacy here, and an open-minded GYN thank goodness, and mine worked a little too well for me. But I have another chronic illness that mixes things up for me, so take that for what it's worth. Our insurance does cover it, yay, so I can't help you there. Mine was a cream that put on the underside of my arm toward my elbow. I had gone literally 7 weeks without sleep, hot flashes 3-4 an hour, having to pee all the time because I don't sweat, and in a week, I was sleeping like I'd never slept in my life; GYN and pharm say I probably was out of balance my whole life, as I had PMS type things too. But either I had breakthrough bleeding, or my ovaries started up again on their own and I suddenly became way estrogen dominant they think so I had to stop the BHRT. That was last year Oct-Nov. Since then, it's a toss as to whether or not I have a period. Went 3 months blissfully "Kotex free" and now having a period for a second month. And they're different too, shorter and lighter except for the first two days, but they'd been changing that direction for years. We think my peri began when I was 37-39 and I'm now 48 but SLAMMED into that meno period hard last July. I'd been having periods scary regular but when I finally gave in (before I killed someone from lack of sleep...) my GYN said my bloodwork looked like I'd been in meno for years.
Whoa, sorry, didn't mean to ramble here, I had the PMS insomnia a bit this week and I'm a little off... Oh, but the good thing about the BHRT is I could adjust the dose, which can't be done with the patches or pills. I hope this helps you and anyone else who reads.

I am on it and think it works pretty well, although they are still trying to get me regulated. I used to be on the synthetic and wouldn't go back. My cost averages $30 - $35 for a month's worth of estrogen and the same goes for progesterone.
